Pistachio coffee

Menengiç is a Turkish speciality coffee. It tastes nutty and very milky and not really like coffee at all. Apparently it’s made from ground Terebinth fruits, a relative of pistachio. Germany has around 5% Turkish origin population, so I’m lucky enough to try some of their cultural delights here.

This cup was made by René, who lives downstairs and is not Turkish but is masterful in the kitchen and who we all owe many dinners to.

On New Years Eve I took part in a German fortune telling tradition. The melted candle wax swirled into a bowl of water to reveal a form portraying the upcoming year ... possibly a guitar but I like to think it was a violin. Took the violin out this evening, it was sounding alright ! I hope my New Years Omens will bring some fortune on the ears of my housemates !

GWOTD: Fortune = das Vermögen
(Might try to add a new word every day)
