THE BEEHIVE HOTEL, NEWCASTLE

The Beehive Hotel was built around 1902 and is a Grade 2 listed building. It can be found in The Bigg Market area of the city. Inside is a traditional Geordie long bar finely decorated with green tiles. Well this is what I have read.... I have never actually been inside but have passed it many many times. Its a very popular pub with locals and visitors alike.

So as you can guess I have been to Newcastle today. Had a lovely shopping trip. There were a few things I needed but mostly I just mooched about. I got some cat food, bird food, digital kitchen scales, some thermal socks, a cardigan ... and some microwave ready meals for Neil so he can heat them up at work for his lunch. Better than sandwiches in this cold weather. I got them in Waitrose so there is a chance that they might taste OK.

Still lots of snow about and the paths around here are icy and slippery. More snow is forecast for the next few days. Going to stay at home tomorrow anyway.

Haven't heard from Neil today but I know he got to Edinburgh OK as I have seen a photograph on his Facebook page taken from Arthur's Seat. He said the temp up there was minus 6.
