How It Starts

First of all, thank you each and everyone for the wonderful reception to yesterday's frozen Rose bud!

This photo won't win any prizes but it was a learning curve for me. How to photograph a single snow flake on the bird bath in the dark!

I'm at home tonight so may not give up yet! Last night it was cold enough to freeze my car solid. I drove off with a very stiff clutch, the ABS light was glowing and a back wheel wasn't spinning as it should. I got to work and we decided to call in W's father to cover and I came home. The car was unlikely to have brought me home at 5am. Tonight it's not as cold but W has decided to go to her parents as they are worried that the forecast will be worse than expected.

So here I am at home and the first tiny flakes are falling. This is one of them. It's barely a millimetre across but they are coming down quite steadily now and the ground is frozen. Is there a word for snow drizzle? Photographing the tiny flakes would be easier if the studio light, although low energy, didn't melt them before I can focus!

We are very much on the edge of the expected white out, so I don't expect too much will come in the way of snow. We'll soon see!
