The Tourists Leave and...

.... the local retirees hit the almost empty, perfectly groomed, slopes! The Villars resort has really kept its snow well, stockpiling it at night when the temperatures drop. The lake you see here contains the water used for making snow when there is no real snow anymore. It will be needed as, from 9th to 22nd January, Lausanne is organising the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Villars, Leysin and Diablerets and there is no new snow on the horizon at all!

We are having this glorious, clear, weather whilst Australia is suffering so much from the fires and resultant smoke. My heart goes out to those who have lost so much and to the animals and people who have lost their lives.
