Gloves & padlocks
It’s been pretty grim in’t Lakes today but the hound and I stole a wander in Ambleside, or ‘Amb-les-i-dee’ as it’s known colloquially. We went there so I could buy some more gloves, as 5 pairs is the minimum really for a week of climbing in winter.
No really, it is! In the mountain instructory type world we measure how good the weather’s been on a winter mountain day by the number of pairs of gloves we get through:
1 pair = very bluebird/very rare.
2 pairs = pretty damn nice weather.
3 pairs = standard.
4 = it rained/melted a fair bit but could’ve been worse.
5+ = wouldn’t have gone out if I wasn’t getting paid.
Anyway the padlock on gates/bridges thing. Not sure I’m into it. Surely it’s basically littering?
