Along the Causeway
The Darling Causeway is a road that runs along, atop a ridge which separates the Hartley and Grose Valleys. It is part of arguably the worst fire affected area of the Upper Blue Mountains, during the current emergency. The Causeway has been closed to traffic for most of the past few weeks along with the Bells Line of Road, which it joins for the run into Lithgow. It was re-opened to traffic over the last few days and we took that route today. This mono blip is an impression of what we saw along the way.
I was in a hurry to make an appointment and so I lacked the time to adequately cover what I saw. In any event I shall go back during the week, take more time and post a proper spread of images.
We had awoken to find our world swathed in genuine mist and drizzle which wafted back and forth, wetting everything down pleasantly for most of the morning. No. It wasn't soaking rain and it won't render the smouldering embers totally safe in a high wind .... but it didn't hurt.
Update: I am sitting at my desk, 6:08 am the next morning. It is raining quite heavily. The online radar screen suggests it will continue to do so for some time.
