Old school case

In my tidy up I found my old High School suitcase made out of sheet metal by my Dad.  It was very drab looking with brown paint peeling off so I decided to paint it and
give it a big of TLC & love.
The lid still fits perfectly and the clasps work well too.
H did a good job (the aim was to save money which would normally be spent on a cardboard Globite case each year).   Dad told me I could turn it on it's end to sit on it if I missed out on a train seat on the way to school - and also if any of the kids picked on me I could bash them with it!   Well I never ever needed it for either of those purposes and just remember how heavy it was, even before any books & lunch went in. I had callouses on my right hand from carrying it - that I know! Lovely to still have this dear old case.  It belongs to an era when one didn't just buy things if they could be made or innovated somehow!
