Wassailing

A year and a half ago I was given an apple tree for my birthday (something I had wanted for a while) Not long after I found out about a festival called wassailing which was a celebration of apple trees and a way of encouraging fruitfulness for the year ahead.

So our very own wassailing event began.

Last year we were lucky to be blessed with 5 apples (I put it down to the wassailing of course!) This years celebration was bigger and better than last year.

Our menu consisted of homemade pork and apple burgers followed by homemade apple and chocolate cake (with oh my apple pie ice cream).

We poured cider on Henry's (the apple tree) roots, hung toast soaked in cider on his branches and sang and clapped to chase away the demons and call for the tree spirits.
