ring around the moon

I was planning to get a sunset picture today, but when I looked out it was too early, and then the next time I looked out it was like this! Oops.
So I read up on what makes a ring around the moon. It is caused by a thin layer of ice crystals in the form of a cirrus cloud around the moon that refracts the light into a halo or moon bow.. An old wives tale is that seeing a ring around the moon means that a storm is coming, but our forecast is for sunshine for the next few days,
