More Visitors

Marc's uncle Simon and his wife Jane stopped off on their tour of Europe: they come from Canberra. The bush fires sound absolutely terrifying, though Simon and Jane say they are unlikely to get houses in the cities, as there are more resources and water to fight them. It was fascinating having them explain how people "water" their houses when there are bush fires: fill the gutters with water, and put out any small fires in the garden. Simon thinks these fires will take decades for the country to recover from, it's truly terrible.

Meanwhile, in our cultural exchange, Jane wanted to know whether living in houses with stairs does our knees in, and they both enjoyed seeing green green grass in our garden.


I would have enjoyed the whole experience even more had I got any voice: I am still v hoarse. And starting to worry about going back to work...the ability to speak it fairly central to teaching.....
