Rose Parade
Today was the 131st Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, California. It's an event of staggering proportions with floats, celebrities, musical groups, mounted horse groups and marching bands. There were 20+ floats, each entirely made of roses, grasses, seeds and every other plant imaginable. Any non-plant material is strictly banned. It takes thousands of volunteers and an estimated one million roses to make the 20+ extraordinary floats. The parade route is five miles long. That's a lot of walking for those participants on foot. There were 300-400 people in a couple of the marching bands. My favorite entry was the Budweiser Clydesdales. Those horses are absolutely breathtaking, even on TV.
