SZR (Sheikh Zayed Road)

Saw a friend for coffee this afternoon. Drove out to near where she worked so we met halfway. Good catch up and chat but all too short as we had to race home. G tutors a teenager and she needed to be back for him.

I am driving, so this is taken through the windscreen by Jellyfox. Very willing soul she is too!

Sheikh Zayed Road used to be called Abu Dhabi Road (because it took you from Dubai to Abu Dhabi - the capital of the UAE). It got renamed some time in the 90s, much to the annoyance of people who have been here since the 60s. Anyway, renaming aside, it is a 6 lane dual carriageway (7 lanes in some places) and is Dubai's main thoroughfare. Lots of important buildings here including the Burj Khalifa. We are driving back into the City heading North. Fortunately for us, despite being Thursday afternoon (read weekend), traffic was flowing freely and we made it home in time.

On the right runs the first of Dubai's two Metro lines (Red Line). Go large to spot the Bentley and see the very varied architecture!

Start of our weekend, so I'll say Happy Weekend. I've blipped before 10:30pm tonight. Record! :)
