2020 Vision (Day 1700)
Our New Year celebrations were about as quiet as they can possibly be, no watching the faux happiness and jollity pumped out on every TV channel, no big parties, no raising glasses in honour of fair weather friends and acquaintances. Instead, my beautiful wife and I spent a quiet, relaxed evening together with our woofers. It was lovely.
This morning, we had a very late start and seem to have missed a fantastic sunrise. Once the woofers were wandered up the hill, the morning passed over coffee before a spot of lunch and a trip through to Stromness to deal with the horses and take the dogs along the shore. We bumped into Mum, Dad and Evie at Warebeth, where we shouted new year greetings over the roar of a strong wind. Big breakers doused everything with sea spray, speckling sun drops on my camera lens.
Later we shall head to Stromness for dinner with Mum and Dad.
