Best day of the Christmas holiday

Today was forecast as the most likely to be dry and sunny for the next week or more, and it was! Quite a frosty start to the day with a lot of windscreen scraping to be done before we set off complete with picnic for a walk in the forest at Fearnoch, up the road towards Taynuilt. Unfortunately nobody told us that the walk was in the shade for most of the way, and pretty cold!

We came back and drove over Connel Bridge and eastwards to the old church at Ardchattan, sadly no longer used and for sale - I've put this on as an extra. Just in case anyone's interested, this wonderful building is for sale - a snip at £115,000!  We picnicked in the sun and had a look around the extensive graveyard and then came home.

As the sun was still quite high I dropped the family off and drove through Oban, through the sadly over-developing Glenshellach to the coast at Glengallen. I spent some time there with the camera, looking for ferns in the stone walls and waiting for the sun to go down. There's just one spot at this time of year where the sun can be seen sinking into the sea and that's my Blip today. The small tower below the sun is the tiny lighthouse on the skerry of Sgeirean Dubh, just off the coast of the island of Kerrera. A lovely sight! The sky was very beautiful after the sun had disappeared. A great day. I wonder what 2020 will bring? A very happy and healthy New Year to all my fellow Blippers, I hope!
