Sue Foll's picture of the day

By POD2008

Anniversary

Twelve years ago I had just left my job as a designer on The Times.

Unknown to my colleagues at the time I had been revising my photography skill and preparing for redundancy. My knowledge being less relevant in an era of computer automation.

Filing a new photograph every day and exploring digital photography helped me hone my skill and make a successful career as a photographer.

When I started out we were using film and wet process, retouching was done with a paintbrush.

After 10 years as a magazine designer and 12 at The Times it felt invigorating to go back to photography in the digital age. It still is.

Photography provides my livelihood, my therapy and my joy.

It always will.
