We Got Rhythm
Maybe not music, though. Nico and Hal duetting on the xylophone in the playground at Harestanes. This place is a godsend, brand-new and state-of-the-art, with loos and cafes, car-parks and dog-walks. Just what the multi-generational family needs when cabin-fever and over-indulgence in festive food sets in.
The plan today was for the children to tire themselves out before they all set off on the long trek home to Surbiton.
The Burley bunch called round for lunch before they left. They don't have so far to go. They told us of their holiday plans for the summer - they are going to buy a caravan and spend six weeks rambling around Europe - last chance before Iz starts secondary school ( don't quite see the argument here, but..) - so we all go, ooh, great idea, etc, etc, and then comes the question, how do you feel about having the dog while we're away? Well, what could we say but yes, lovely .... Actually, we like having the dog :-)
So that only leaves the Kingston crew, who are coming by tomorrow before they also head to sunny Surrey. After that, normal life can resume. But for tonight, Douggie and I are on the sofa and I have a glass of bubbles and we're both enjoying the peace and quiet.
