Knitting attempt

My friend is teaching me to knit, and every time I think I've got the basic stitch down, I mess it up somehow. Today I took some photos of her doing it, went back home and promptly messed it up again because I was talking while doing it. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Frustrating! Will get some help again,and the next time sit by myself concentrating!
