Happy Returns

It’s my birthday today but I’m going to officially mark the occasion on Sunday instead as today has been taken up with getting the boiler fixed, after it malfunctioned last night. It’s been one of those days, really, as a load of steam billowed out of my car bonnet on the way back from walking Polly this morning, so the car’s booked in for Monday!

Still, it’s been better than the day this egret in the horse field was having: it was only when I looked at the photo close-up that I realised it was probably standing like this as it has a very swollen toe. Poor thing.
