Dzong

Thimpu is beautiful. For a hilly town, the roads are broad and immacuately maintained. The Simtokha Dzong located a few kilometers out of town stands like a stern sentinel amid the hills. A Dzong is a building which houses not only administrative offices, they also have schools for monks. The architecture is unique to the region and it is always fascinating visiting them.

A strong sense of spirituality governs the country of Bhutan. However, our guide was rather bland in this regard. Though he was diligent and very effecient, most of what he did was rather perfunctory. Flawless but without much feeling.
