Flying away
One of my T-shirts, tried to make a quick get away, off the line. To be honest, I'd like to do the same..........
Being "Santa's" little big helper is HARD WORK.
And messy work.
I had to stick my hands in the butter/sugar mixture, TWICE, to make the two batches of shortbread Mom, NEEDS.
I know on paper, this is not so hard, but it gives me the hibbee jebbees. I have some kind of tactile phobia.
By the time, lunch was served, cake number 3 was done.
Things were looking up. Delivering the big cake order, to Vanathy, was on track.........
And then, there was a deluge of water, thrown down from on high and a power failure. Eish !
Despite, the "darkness", Mom just kept going....... she iced, the batch of custard biscuits, which for the record, had been made, during lunch. And then, she proceeded to load up the tin, with goodies, for the Knight family.
The power returned. The sun came out.
So, I was off, to Jhb......
The trip home, was a nightmare. There were multiple spots, en route, where the road was flooded. The most hair raising, was definitely, driving through the squatter camp, on the outskirts of Boksburg.
Although, this was not the deepest spot, this came, when I drove through the same flooded spruit, in the industrial area, on the other side of the squatter camp.
At the squatter camp spot, I was not only afraid, for the car...... it quickly morphed, into, afraid for me too.
A very drunk, not fully clothed man, was standing, in the middle of the road, close to waste deep in water, waving a beer bottle, encouraging the vehicles, trying to navigate the flooded road. OMG !
I and the car, obviously lived to tell the tale..........
I did not tell the tale to Mom, but did share it with Vanathy and David.
They pitched up, at my place to collect the cakes, around 7 pm and then hung around, for half an hour, before heading off, to watch a movie.
NOTE : The extra includes, the three cakes and the batch of mince pies, which went into the tin of goodies. I had nothing to do, with baking these, just took the picture - they were made, whilst I was slaving away, on the short bread.
