Squirrel Blip Friday .....

.... Virginia Vacation …final day.


It was “pack up” day for us here is Virginia but our vacation isn’t quite over with just yet.

Our nephew and his wife live in Virginia and they graciously invited us to stop over for the night at their beautiful home in Vienna, Va.

But before going to their home we stopped at Sky Meadows State Park which was semi on the way. I had seen on a fellow blipper’s journal that there are Red-headed woodpeckers at this state park.  We had never encountered this variety of woodpecker before and I was very excited about the possibility of seeing them for the first time.  We had perfect weather for viewing them but unfortunately most were waaaay up in the tree tops …. beyond the reach of my 300mm lens! I managed a few shots …. one can be seen in my collage …. but it’s not the best. This is a highly cropped image!

My other pictures are of the ever present Eastern gray squirrels outside our cabin; an inside shot of our cabin; and the resort sign as we were leaving.  They had just added the autumn decorations the day before.

We arrived at our nephew’s house around 3:00 pm and had a wonderful visit with them.  This was our first time meeting his beautiful wife of just two years … still newlyweds! And their house was stunning!

Tomorrow is home at last.
