Day Lilies

The red day lily has seven flower stems this year. It usually has no more than three.

I found a beautiful crane fly today. Crane flies are very common here. They come in all sizes. This was one of the largest  I have seen. It measured just under 3cm body length. See extra shot. Although the colours are distinctive I can’t find an ID for it. Apparently we have over 600 native species.
