A walk on the wildside
Today's walk took us to a remote beach not too far from the lighthouse. It was our first visit to the western coast of the peninsula.
Unfortunately there was no beach to sit upon (high tide), too many people, and a stiff breeze. We wandered off across the moor to find sheltered place for for our picnic meal. We found one, and it hd a view of the sea and was in fact not a great deal different to a beach - it was seemingly a very old dune system, much eroded and partially formed into sandstone. It made a fine windbreak and provided a sun trap.
Only fifteen kilometres but it was enough, especially as I had twisted my ankle moments before we set off (I seem to be making a habit of this). A fine peaceful walk apart from thirteen barking dogs, one biting dog, A Bom Dia or two, several Guten Morgens and a couple of Hellos.
We leave Sagres tomorrow. I feel that I really would rather stay. It is difficult to believe that we have been here for a month. We turn Northward now, towards home and the French Spring.
