Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2019 Thursday — Dessert

I love that we are allowed to back-blip; I hate doing it (because it is so much harder to remember the details of the day).

The pie is a Marie Callender’s from the frozen section of the grocery store. I often bake one of these little pies ( apple or peach or berry) when our evening meal has been less than exciting (whatever that means). I guess what I mean is less than satisfying!

This was a housework day! I hate doing housework! This house has bare cement floors. It was our first home; we bought it from my parents and we lived in for 28 years and then moved out to a much bigger house and when this house did not sell, we rented it out for 24 years. Then 18 months ago, we sold the big house and moved back into this little house.

We (well Mr. Fun) ripped out all the baseboards and we took the floor right down to the cement (to get rid of the smell of pet urine). We then hired a guy, (who claimed he knew what he was doing and had pictures to prove it), and he did a fine grind on the floor in each room (what a mess) and then stained the floors in the entire house a light coffee color, then the door was locked and we weren’t to step on it for a couple days. The floor was supposed to have a “wet” look — it only looks wet when it’s wet.

Oh well! It also has all the holes — from the former carpet tack strips. The floor has been a frustration for the two of us. He pretty much loves it and I pretty much hate it. Every man who has seen it likes it. If this were a “man-cave” the cement would be perfect.

So today I mopped the entire floor of this house. I just saturated the floor with water and pushed the mop under the sofa and every piece of furniture and I moved the furniture that I couldn’t get the mop under. The floor looks it’s best when it has just been mopped. It is exhausting to mop it.

That’s what I did today!
