Heavenly music

Merry Christmas.

The watchnight service was as ever special. The final candle on the advent calendar was lit - see extra. And we got to sing the fourth verse of O Come All the Faithful, only sung on Christmas Day.

The congregation and choir were in full voice and the singing was uplifting. It is especially during this hymn and Silent Night that I think back to the years of standing beside my father at previous watchnight services. He passed away in 1992 three days before Christmas so the memories are particularly strong at this service,

To those emotions this year I added my mother and .”aunt”. I’m glad that the lighting is very low.

At the end of the service I saw the reflection of the organist in the framed tapestry which also picked up the lights from the Christmas tree. A fitting photo for Christmas Day.
