Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Last time, Arch, honest...

We took a dander down to the Meadows, via the cafe, and via the local sofa shop. Yes, amazingly enough, we have a very nice sofa shop in the area. And what a choice. Archie was allowed in (he even got a treat - we were offered a coffee). We're seriously considering new sofas. The ones we have are about twenty years old now, and are actually too soft. I tend to slump in them, which is not good for my back.

We walked on down to Victor Hugo's where we had a coffee and scone, and JR took Archie for a romp in the Meadows while I went home.

Archie had a haircut and a bath ready for the Big Day tomorrow. The neighbours popped in with a present for him. He didn’t bark much, either. In fact, he got quite frisky with his toys and played tug or war with the wee girl. She was delighted, as she's always been quite uneasy with his barking when out in the back green.

All organised for tomorrow: Pick up Uncle A, who's quite keen to come up the hill with us, then a big traditional lunch with almost all the trimmings (no brussel sprouts, as nobody else likes them 'cept me). Then, of course, the Queen... and Archie can at last open his presents (we've had to remove them, as he keeps trying to rip them open).
