After the rain
Last night we did manage to get to the pub for dinner, we had to take an alternative and longer route due to the closed roads. When we got home Adam continued working and worked through the night, finishing at 6.30am this morning when he emailed his lab research thesis off to his lab supervisor! He had a few hours sleep and then he and Jenni have gone to London today.
Meriel left today to go home to her parents for Christmas. I went into the village to see if the roads had opened and what the flooding looked like now that the rain had finally stopped today and we had some blue skies again. The roads were open but you can see how deep the water is - in the extra you can hardly see which is the river and which are the flooded surrounding fields.
I made a lamb curry for supper as we are going to the airport shortly to fetch my brother and his partner, and I wanted supper to be ready for this evening. We will then be a household of eight people but Jenni goes home for Christmas in a few days' time. The countdown to Christmas continues, at this stage I am measuring it in meals....
