St Peter's Grange
J and I took the bus to the Prinknash Abbey estate and walked around in the dank and dripping rain. My phone cam got wet, hence the blurriness.
The Benedictine monks live in this Tudor building now. There are ten of them left. I think there were fourteen when I briefly worked in the gift shop. J wanted to visit the chapel (we were there this time last year, in better weather) so went up to the monastery, after first exploring the aged walled garden and the now-derelict bird and deer park. The perch in the vacant kookaburra cage reminded me of a gallows.
Back to the shop and tea room for late lunch, then back up the steep drive and over to Cranham corner for the bus. It was only about half an hour late, so we needn't have rushed.
Despite the weather, we both had a truly wonderful day out. So much space, so much free time, so much clean air!
