Blue light
Yesterdays blip had rather a brown cast to it and this was because I corrected the white balance of the snow which removed the blue cast. However this was not really true to the actual colour as the light has a blue quality to it all day.
This picture was taken at 10 am and it does not really get any lighter than this so sunrise and sunset become one and the same thing (although the sun never actually rises at this time of year). On this occasion I have not modified the white balance from the camera's 'cloudy' setting. I am not sure why I had the aperture set to F22. This was a mistake in retrospect.
They call this locally "The Blue Light" and it has a very serene calm feel to it. This picture is taken from the quayside in front of our hotel and the Arctic Cathedral can be seen over on the mainland.
As you can see, the weather has suddenly decided to clear on the day we are returning home. Last night we got to see an amazing Aurora show from this same point. As it is in the middle of the town, the light pollution was really bad. I have uploaded some more northern lights pictures to my Blipfolio.
Off to the airport now :-(
