A mute swan's wingspan is up to two-and-a-half metres wide, as demonstrated by this one at Petersfield Heath this morning, where we took Polly for a walk between various chores in Hampshire and West  Sussex. The swans were on feisty form, having lots of little spats and chases, I suspect because they were hungry due to fewer people feeding them bird seed at this time of year. Another swan in Extras, if of interest. Weather-wise, this morning turned out to be the best part of the day.
