Things May Not Be What They Seem

After a cold start to the day of 6F, even at the day's high, ten degrees higher, it was still very cold by the lake. I find it hard to think in such conditions and everything seems much more difficult. I can't imagine life for weeks on Everest.

Often I start with one shot, however unpromising, and find that leads to something surprising. Today I began with ice covered rocks when I saw an oak leaf, then another, and they became more interesting than the rocks. This image is not complicated by any stretch, but I find its simplicity appealing.
