Out and about
J invited us to lunch at hers after Spanish class today. She's house-sitting a large house on an urbanización high above Almuñecar. Not so handy for shopping as ours, but she has great views of mountains and Med, and here she was showing us the short cut she uses to walk down into town. Note the old terraces on the hill, now abandoned ... imagine having to cultivate those! There are still some in use that are as steep as this. In the distance, the motorway on tall stilts.
J herself has the appetite of a sparrow, but she plied us with food till we had to tell her to stop, and there was ample time to chat and find out more about her. She's had a peripatetic life, including but not limited to Jamaica, the US, China, Turkey, Ireland, the UK, and now Spain. We didn't leave till 5:30.
Back home we felt cold, but a fire soon warmed us up and I spent the evening at my last choir practice till January. Winding down -- or up -- for Christmas now.
