Mashua

The tubers of tropaeolum tuberosum, of which the plant in our garden has produced a profusion while it had its short splurge of flowers, short because the frost cut it down before it had properly started. Tonight I shall roast them. They are said to be an acquired taste, not much liked in the raw state, but roasted - well, we'll see! I expect a flavour reminiscent of nasturtium, of which it is a variety.
