What Next!!

So it was meant to be a reconnaissance mission, a short drive out to check out the fires in the Megalong at just on 5.30pm.  There just happened to be four tourists out at the lookout who seemed very interested in what was going on out there.  Well we got chatting as you do, well at least I usually do.  I love to tell people about the area and just happened to casually ask where they were from.  Perth they said.  Well that was the start of it - an absolute talk fest ensued and within approximately 30 minutes they were following me home to join me for drinks and the potential of a "Bird Show" at Wombat Hollow.  

Allan and Olivia, Wesley and Grace were four of the nicest people you could meet.  Turns out Grace and Wesley's daughter also went to MLC and then it turns out that Wesley was President of the Perth Rotary Club. This came out after I mentioned the fact that I had been in Rotary and we had put on a big fund raising event at Wombat Hollow when the Waratahs had put on a magnificent display two years after the fires went through the property 17 years ago.  And on and on it went, connection after connection.  Little did I realise when I headed out to the lookout I would end up in a Vietnamese Restaurant in Katoomba at 8.00pm having a delightful meal with four such wonderful people. Turned out that Olivia is an absolute guru with her iPhone 11 (hear that rainie:))  so I got a bit of a masterclass in that department as well.  Happily for all of us four Gang Gangs came down to drink, they've been missing lately and the rosellas and the little New Holland Honey Eaters and just as we were leaving three Black Cockatoos came down to drink as well.

A great friend told me very recently - "Barb - you must seize the day".  Blimey, I'm not sure if she meant this to happen.  How blessed I am to have four new Facebook friends from the West!!  I will be sure to look them up when I head west this year.
