"Gate Ganny"

The weather this morning was frightful - dark and cold. E is rarely known to refuse a walk in the park but today, she repeatedly answered a firm "no" in favour of Peppa Pig, watching from the window, "nacks" and lounging around in a nappy and vest, heating on with a tired, very pregnant Mummy at her beck and call.

At one point, we headed to the "pater" (caterpillar) mat in E's room to make cups of tea, load passengers on and off the bus, unpack the toy box, read stories and look at E's special photo album. Since she was born, I have told her about her wonderful Great Granny and shown her pictures from when they first met (shortly before she died). As we went through the album today, a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds here (and in Durham, I shared the magic moment with my Mum by phone almost as it happened) and Eva recognised for the first time "Gate Ganny" (who has only been "lady" until now) and "baby Eya" (who has previously been just "baby"). Tears were soon rolling down my cheeks and my Mum's.
