One took himself off to school, I took the other one up the hill. Then to Jim the barber. A man who's well into his 70's and only ever had 2 jobs. Both on the same road, some 400 yards apart. He was a barber with Annette for a long time and then the building was subject to a CPO ( but is still standing - 15 years (?) later. He relocated to the other end of West Granton Road and shares a shop with Julie.
As my vanity in haircuts wains, my support of him in the face of 2 other barbers shops in close proximity- recent interlopers- strengthens. A proper local institution.
From there I went to the bike shop and got new front brakes,; fitted them as it was raining and as it dried spoke to Neill about doing battle re: the cracked Cannondale frame. Then off cheer myself up about the G****** E******* result by going to seek out one of the 2 Cigs that I know I still haven't blipped. To Eskbank via IKEA for photograph frames and as the sun set o'er the Pentlands I sped homeward.
A quick cuppa and then back up town to extricate her from her work Christmas lunch; actually it was easier than expected.
Although after Her short sleep after the election count, I was in at a decent hour.
A little time trying to do battle with the Meades library book ( I continue to lose) and that was Friday.
