Orchestra Day
School Festival of Christmas Music today. So she has spent the entire day rehearsing, performing to the school and then performing to the parents/families.
This year, for the first time, she was asked to play two solos! She played a fab fun piece on the bassoon - and got a round of applause before she began as the HofM told everyone about her getting in to NCO. She also played a jazz piece on clarinet. She was awesome but was frustrated with both performances as they weren’t quite as good as she hoped, largely for reasons out of her control. But she was fabulous. The full orchestra pieces were a great standard for a primary school orchestra and it was as lovely an afternoon as always. Hard to believe though that this time next year all of these things will be happening for the very last time.
We had to leave the concert a bit early. She had a cry in the car- frustrated at the performances a little and really missing her B, who at that moment was a part of her way through her 24 hour journey home.
It was my turn to do the Friday ballet run. She really enjoyed their last class. She said her teacher told her that her creative work tonight was beautiful and she got fantastic feedback about the standard of her ballet journal- she spends a lot of time on it so this pleased her! The girls were all very excited to swap their secret Santa presents too. Term One done!
