Just As Busy As A Fizzy Sarsaparilla

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

We have had a fun day today. We were hanging out with Loulou and Tiger again in Paraparaumu, looking at houses. They are really lovely people and good for a laugh. Loulou amused us by telling us that the previous night she had a falling-out with her cat.

This is because she is an artsy and craftsy person and is making "Christmas Bags" for everyone's presents. This involves a lot of ribbon, which is the cat's favourite thing to play with.

"It all got very bad tempered and in the end she called me a c*nt," explained Loulou. The language on that cat.

However, cooler heads have prevailed and this morning, Loulou told us that an uneasy truce had descended upon their house. She was telling us all this as she drove around houses on the Kapiti coast.

We saw one with real potential that might be at a reasonable price. We are going to do some sums and possibly put in an offer on it this week. It is very exciting, but possibly not as exciting as you think. I'm not sure we will get it. This is more of a "practice run" if you will. If we get it, yay, if not ach well. That's our attitude.

We also took a look at the hacienda and Caro told the couple about my High Chapparal fantasies.

"Ooh good, I've always wanted to see a real hacienda," said Tiger.
"No, no, that's 'hath-ee-enda'," I corrected him. Really, it is for the best we do not get this house, I am going to be just un-effing-bearable if we do.

Having said all that, I don't think we will even put in an offer on this one. It was really quite special inside. They had continued the theme with little cactus figurines inside and a garden gnome in the form of a sleepy Mexican by the front door. They even had a water canteen as a feature of another wall.

And what a wall it was! The plasterwork was that very 1970's textured sort, all sort of swirled onto the wall by someone with an artistic streak circa 1978, we thought.

"That must have been fun to do," said Loulou. "You'd put a cock and balls in it though, wouldn't you?"

We agreed we all would. Loulou told us that one of her friends had done a giant cock and balls on the wall when he was painting the interior of his house, secure in the knowledge that he would be painting over it later.

"Of course," explained Loulou, "while he thought that, what he didn't know was that he was laying down a base." She went on to tell us that, when the light was just right in the early evening, his wife could see a rampant willy emerging from behind the couch.

The rest of the hath-ee-enda was a huge disappointment. The theme went from "New Mexico" to "care home" as we moved further in. Tiger and Loulou spotted tons of Reader's Digest books and cassette tapes by The Bee Gees, Charlie Pride and Tony Orlando.

"It's a replica of my parents' house in the 1970's!" exclaimed Loulou, excited.

The artwork in the house was also quite special. Please see an example in today's main blip and also in the extra.

Nevertheless, when we said goodbye to the pair and took the train back to Wellington, I whiled away the time listening to music on my iPod. I decided to stick with today's theme and to listen to this and this and this and this

Sigh. I know we're not buying the hath-ee-enda, but I'm having a hard time letting go.
