Dance card

Tonight is the final of the popular TV program, Strictly come Dancing.
There are versions of this extravaganza in dozens of countries all over the world; Dancing with the Stars, Ballando con le Stelle, etc.
 
This picture shows my own Strictly dance card from 1962.
 
In our final year of school our all boys school had a joint dance with the local all girls school. (Under careful supervision, of course)
One took a partner, seen as “Duty” on the card, and then swapped dances in a pre-arranged fashion with friends. Thus the dance card was marked for the evening.
 
I was still only 16 at the time and four months later went to university, where on the first day I met someone who became the star of yesterday’s Blip.
 

My card was well and truly marked.
