Village festivities.
On the second Saturday of the month we have church coffee morning. In December this is an extended event with mince pies, mulled wine and renowned Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches!
For a couple of years we combined this with a display of Nativity cribs in the church.
This year our friends at the Congregational church have put on a Christmas tree festival and we have combined with them to provide refreshments ‘across the road’ at our Turkey and Tinsel event.
Certainly plenty of people came despite the vile weather. We had at least two hail downpours during the morning, enough to make it white over so crossing the road wasn’t quite as easy as it sounds.
I was serving teas, coffees and mulled wines, Chris was on sandwich making duties so I didn’t think I’d get to see the trees. At 1.50pm with just 10 minutes to go I managed to nip across and make a quick peruse of the super entries from local groups and shops. In my compilation I have chosen the ‘out of the ordinary’ created trees rather than a decorated traditional one. I love the one from our newsagent and PO made of rolled up newspapers (top left) and of course the butchers ‘pork pie’ tree.
The one second from the right on the bottom row was our church tree made by Chris out of wood, a bit like a multi fingered sign post, it was decorated in part by gold stars and hearts written on by our children at last weeks nativity and pick and mix service. Well done to all involved. Good to work together over something like this.
Cleared up and back home now ready for a rest. Glad we’re not out tonight.
(Extra is some of the workers and visitors at our church enjoying the provisions - it was so busy at one point we had to find an extra table)
