Goldfinch

This is an American goldfinch with sunflower seed meat on his beak. On the same perch as yesterday's sparrow.

It was an icy morning here. There was freezing rain (as opposed to an ice storm?)  so I - decided discretion being the better part of valor - to not drive over the mountain to Waynesboro for my usual Wildlife Center gig. My partner - when I texted her - said she wasn't going either. In her case mostly because her children didn't have school - or maybe their schools had a delayed opening? - in any case we were both absent today.

The birds, on the other hand, were quite present - as is usual when the weather is nasty.
