Happy Lucia Day!

We woke up early this morning and settled in front of the TV with hot chocolate and pepparkakor (gingerbread cookies) for mum and treats for me, candles lit and everything, super cosy, to watch the traditional Lucia celebration. Lucia is supposed to wake you up with coffee and Lucia buns, which is why it has to be early in the morning.

It was a beautiful concert with lots of children and young people dressed up in white gowns, lingonberry wreaths on their heads and candles in their hands. Lucia, of course, carries a crown with candles. They sang some traditional songs and some not so traditional. Mum, who has been singing in lots of Lucia celebrations, prefers the traditional ones. She is also old, which can be a factor. It was a great morning.

And of course I saw this coming. Mum calls me her little Lucia. We sent the picture to my sister Nora’s family to wish them Happy Lucia. We also wished our half-Swedish astronaut Jessica on ISS a happy Lucia because she posted a Lucia floating around in space! Probably the first Lucia in space ever, I reckon.
