Colour

Abstract Thursday theme: Colour. Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting. I quite like the tartan look to this abstract.
Posting this on the morning of the 13th because we had a power outage yesterday that lasted from around 1:00pm until 1:00am this morning. Lucky the laptop was fully charged so I was able to have a bit of fun with abstracts and get this ready to post.
G turned on the generator for a few hours to plug in the well and the fridge. It was an enjoyable afternoon, sitting by the fire with our headlamps on, reading. I used the electric griddle and the wood stove to cook our supper and the wood stove kept us warm. Earlier to bed than usual. The power came back on at 1:00am precisely. Everything that had been on when it went off came back on too and woke us up.
We have a land line so we can report outages and get updates on approximate time that the power will be restored. We couldn't believe it when I first checked and got the news that it would be restored by 11pm A tree had come down on power lines, and we thought it must have been a huge tree and maybe broke the wires for the repair to take that long. A couple of hours later, a neighbour dropped in and she had just checked. The latest news: 1:00am. I always frown when the message on the phone from the power company says that we can get updates by checking the web. No power, no internet, no cell service at our place, so no way to check - but luckily our daughter on the mainland can check. She confirmed the 1:00am time and could tell us that only a small part of the island (about 300 homes) was affected. Thank goodness for the workers who do the repairs in awful weather and in the dark! It was pouring most of the day.
