Angkor Wat arguably unmatched amongst ancient ruin
This is what it said on the tin. It's up there with the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China.
Why? Because its the biggest covering several hundred acres. It includes moats and intricate structures and its unique design on five levels covering the five elements.
It was built between the C9 and C13 and then abandoned and rediscovered in the 1800's hidden by overgrown jungle.
Sadly for us, having only recently visited Ta Prohm with its intrusive vegetation and buildings on a much smaller scale, it didn't compare. But as a must see location it had to be recorded .
This is a view from the 2nd level with the other levels stretching into the distance.
This is the last temple this trip so perhaps we are feeling a little jaded.
