Male Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula)
Another through the window bird shot I am afraid. Bullfinches are very infrequent visitors to our garden and when they do visit it is very fleeting. So I was pleased with this single snatched shot.
BUllfinch are a species which has shown a slight improvement in status in recent years. From 1996 to 2007 it had a "Red Book" status of Red. This was because of a 36% drop in population since 1967. In 2009 the status was moved to Amber.
Like the Dunnock yesterday its average life span is about 2 years and the record a little shorter than Dunnock at 9 years 2 months 9 days.
