Election Day
What a horrible day, it is raining, grey and cold. The perfect day for an election that is significant and of utmost importance but will be equally horrible. I went and voted late morning and was surprised to find a short queue, which is a good thing as it hopefully means many people are voting in this election instead of sitting at home saying they cannot be bothered. I am predicting a hung parliament but won't say anymore as I am totally fed up with all the negative comments and false stories that have surrounded this election.
Having a dog in this weather is not easy. Today she went out with the dog walker and came home totally covered in mud, which is to be expected in this weather with the woods being so muddy. It took me ages to wash her using only a bucket filled with warm water. Everyday I curse the people who designed our house and stupidly chose pale cream tiles for our kitchen and living area - I cannot tell you how many times a day I need to wash the floor as it gets filthy from muddy paws. Our garden does not drain well in winter so it is always wet and muddy so every time she goes out it's a drama to try and wipe her paws which she thinks is a game so she jumps up all over me and of course my clothing gets muddy every day too. A very challenging time to be a pet owner of an exuberant puppy!
The only good thing today was that I watched the varsity womens' rugby match on ITV4 this morning, in which both Jenni (Adam's girlfriend) and her sister were playing. It was a thrill to see them on national television, and the match was very exciting as Oxford were winning by 5-3 right up until about 4 minutes from the end of the match when Cambridge scored a try and they won, for the 4th time in a row, by 8-5.
The other good thing is that I am reading a book I just cannot put down - it is 'Before we were yours' and it is a fictional story based on the true events of the Tennessee Children's Home orphanage when children were kidnapped and sold for adoption.
