Up with the Lark!
Not intentionally! Brian overslept by around an hour this morning, and that left him little time to get ready for work. So I got up early to do his pack-up, feed Minstrel etc.
Since I was up nice and early and had a busy day ahead, I decided I'd go straight to the Polling Station and vote! Actually I couldn't wait! I voted Labour, as anyone who knows me will guess! I did this for many reasons - the NHS being a biggie! the privatisation has begun by degrees, and I do not want to see the continuation of that. It's not too late to save it, but once it's gone it's unlikely we could ever get it back.
I hope to see an end to child poverty, stagnant wages for workers whilst billionaires' incomes boom, homelessness and all the other trappings of austerity, and the dawn of a fairer society for all! In my humble opinion, a Labour government will bring us nearer to that.
My Dad had also been to cast his vote. He was thrilled to tell me that on his way home from the shops yesterday, he'd got to meet and chat with his local Labour candidate - he was very impressed with her! The village is part of a very safe Tory seat though. My Dad thinks he's possibly the only Labour voter in the village - I showed him the photo I took of a sticker I saw on a lamp-post there to reassure him that it is not the case! (Extra!)
