Golden light at the Creek
After an unsuccessful visit to Brownhill Creek looking for bugs at dusk worthy of blipping, we finally had to admit defeat and head for home. It was an experiment to see what might be there 30 or so mins before sunset.
We saw bees fighting 3 to a flower, but you must all be tired of seeing endless bees. Then I found a manky and tattered old butterfly for Paladian but it looked near death, so it also missed out.
On the drive back home, you get a wonderful view from the Old Belair Road back over the entrance area to Brownhill Creek. You can see the sheer cliff that is at the lower end of the valley. Seen better in LARGE.
It was bathed in golden light, so out of the car and on with the long lens. Boy it pays to travel with all lenses at all times, even when you only plan to do macros.
This is the view we normally saw twice every day for 22 years on our way to and from work. In this light around about 8PM it never looked better. You can see the stone pines along the cliff face above the safety railing and a few gum trees and the Mt. Lofty Ranges in the background.
Also a viewing platform sign board can be seen lower left. This is one of the places we will be taking DesertP to visit when we have our blip meet in March.
