Magical Morning

Woke to a sparkling morning, so went together up the Land to pick wild asparagus; we almost gasped when we went through the gap halfway up, it was breathtaking. Afraid I didn't manage to capture it - have discovered I can't look for beauty and asparagus at the same time, they require different eyes. But you get an idea, and the asparagus haul was the best so far.

Spent best part of the day cooking for tonight and tomorrow. Off now, an hour earlier than we'd planned, for a meal with the Amigos, at Ricardo's in Évora... Padre Luís is bringing the wine (so it will be excellent), Cecílio has made duck risotto, Ricardo and family are providing starters, bread and salad, and I've made mini salted caramel chocolate mousses and French apple tart. Plus ice-cream. Thinking we just might be quite late back...

Gratefuls:
- sparkling beauty in the mornings at the moment
- getting most of the cooking for tomorrow done, so I can be more relaxed in the morning
- the prospect of an evening with our friends

And, praying voters in the UK might vote well tomorrow... may the polls give us a pleasant surprise, for a change.
