It was a cold day...

Portraiture is extremely challenging. Like most things, in order to ellicit what you want, you must first connect with your subject. You can always tell when someone does their work with love because of the unknown energy emanating from it. When someone dances, sings, is behind the bar making a drink or whatever, you can't help be drawn to the genuine nature of the motivation carrying out the work. A mentor taught me this and I'm slowly learning.
The weather wasn't favourable. It was freezing and raining all day. Some post-touch up magic helps, but when you don't have the right conditions at the source, it can be very challenging. The most important condition is the attitude, the motivation, the intention and connection.
Hanging out with friends today, it was camera crazy and everyone was connecting via their own devices. Everyone was having fun and when we all took photos, we were all connecting and produced some geniunely enjoyable stuff.
